Background
Prior to joining SH&E, Mr. Ghai spent 18 months as Commercial Board Director of Sama with full responsibility for revenue performance.  He successfully launched Sama, the first privately funded low cost airline in Saudi Arabia and the fastest growing low cost airline in the Middle East.  He was involved in Marketing and PR, Direct sales and Ancillary Revenue, Indirect Sales, trade and retail, Network Planning and Revenue Management and Pricing. Before Sama, Mr Ghai started a Virgin branded flag carrier in Nigeria with revolutionary shop in shop retailing distribution, and took the airline to market in 9 months, 6 months earlier than planned. He was responsible for developing feasibility assessment and start up business plan, managing short haul aircraft lease negotiations, defining the customer experience and onboard product proposition, setting channel strategy for web, call centre and tickets offices. Mr. Ghai was also a Senior Manager at British Airways, responsible for the implementation assessment of a proposed $2b joint venture with American Airlines, a value based portfolio segmentation that provided revenue and profit analysis and the financial and strategic review of 6 British Airways’ franchise relationships.  He was also a Director of International Strategy & Alliances at Trans World Airlines, responsible for supporting the VP International in restructuring the loss making International Division and leading 50 strong cross-functional teams from London and St Louis in the design and implementation of alliances across Europe and the Middle East.  Mr. Ghai was also a Strategy Consultant at Beddows & Company working for the aviation practice on the establishment of a commercial maintenance and engineering facility for Malaysia Airlines, a strategic review of the cargo and the German non inclusive tour business of Britannia Airways, presenting domestic and International strategy options to the senior TWA Management Team and supporting partnership negotiations.
